Red-tailed Hawk (w/repost)
by Bryan Hix
I was headed to an area to photograph marsh birds and saw this hawk sitting on a sign with a white building in the BG. I kind of liked the way it looked eventhough he isn't on a more natural perch. I don't get to have this close of encounters normally with raptor species.

sure, it would have been nice to have a better perch and visible talons - but this is what he gave you, and you made a lovely image with what you had.

I love the look, this bird seems intent on something outside the frame. I also like the creamy colored chest and the head angle. If this isn't a large crop I might crop tight to eliminate the legs, maybe just under the buff color of the neck and go with a more intimate closeup for the comp.
