Bald River Falls

This is a very beautiful, big and incredibly powerful waterfall anytime of the year but the lower summer water level is the best! When the water levels are down this happens, beautiful streams of falling water on wonderful green moss. This is nearly a 50' drop even though it doesn't look like it.

I like the horizontal crop with all the vertical lines, very well done.

This indeed looks like a wet and wonderful place Jerry. I can see why you favor the lower water levels of summer. This is a feast for the eyes.

Jerry, this is lovely and I like the overall composition a lot. One comment is that on my monitor, the water seems a tad on the green side... almost a green color-cast to the whole image. If you add a little red with color balance, it might shift the colors to a more pleasing look. Just a thought.... well done.

Jay, thanks for the comment. I have this in a vert. format too, shot @ about 200mm from a further distance away that I love! I'll post it later. I spent about two hours shooting this with a client.

Wayne, In heavy water levels this area gets the full force of the flow and all of this is hidden. If you google Bald River Falls you'll see what I saying. I love the summer greens.

John, Thanks for your comments. Just a note, the slight cast is blue and this is coming from the cloudless blue sky above: the falls were in evening shadow. I'm an old LF film shooter and I tend to always keep and prefer the slight blue cast offered up from above.

Nice comp with the ribbons of water and strong foreground rocks. For the life of me, I just can't figure out the LLC. It feels like that bottom rock is truncated on it's left side. Probably just an optical illusion the way the camera is aligned with the falls. Just feels like there should be some foreground rock in front of the wood. I see you addressed the blue/cyan cast. It does seem to work OK here.

Tony, I see what you're saying but the rock is just that way. Probably broken at this angle by years of freeze and thaw.

I agree that more water would change the delicate balance that this represents. Excellent composition.

This is very nice. I don't mind the blue cast at all. Couple of nearly blown out spots on the left side that I wouldn't mind seeing pulled back a bit if possible but that's a minor nit.

A beautiful capture Jerry. Slightly darker on the right hand side of the image, but overall this is just beautiful.

wonderful cascade. i do wish the FG rocks were brushed aside, though - they clutter it just a touch.
