Golden hour??? More like Golden 5 minutes… ,but what a light it was for those few minutes.

I used TK’s cloud sharpening technique to make those clouds pop more; for those who are unfamiliar with this I would highly recommend getting TK’s cloud sharpening action!

Blend of three bracketed exposure blended with the help of..., you guessed it, TK’s Luminosity Masks. Thanks again Tony!

"Beautiful" doesn't really do this justice Vincent but it's the best I can do. Incredible light. Beautiful...

WOW
you were really lucky to be at such a beautiful place
the comp is amazing here
I feel if you darken the middle part might be better
just an opinion :)

i have yearned to visit augrabies ever since i saw (relatively poor) photos of it ... yet to do it though! this makes me want to go there even more! Fabulous light - excellent composition. i find the skyline on the left just a touch too bright - and hence distracting.

Stunning! Your composition throughout is so well done. The light makes that much better.

You're more than welcome, Vincent. You had some very special light to work with here, even if it was only short, and really played it well. Stunning image all around.

This is a superb shot Vincent. The light could hardly be better for this. Thanks for sharing this rarely photographed landscape.

Fantastic light and just enough special interest throughout the foreground and middle to carry it. Quite a find here. I really like it.

Beautiful shot! I really like your comp with the foreground rock and the light that is on it. It makes for an excellent gateway to the rest of the shot.

Have seen your photos improve out of all recognition in the fauna gallery over the last few years Vincent and now it appears you can now do landscapes too!

Lovely light to work with and you took full advantage. Have been there for some nice sunsets but not seen one like this. Out of interest whereabouts on the gorge was this taken? The water looks very low!

Thank you for the comments. John you asked:
Out of interest whereabouts on the gorge was this taken? The water looks very low!

This was from the second last wooden viewing platform downstream, so not too far after the falls. The water was indeed quite low,(thanks to all the irrigation schemes for grape farming...)
And John, although wildlife and landscapes are two different fields of nature photography, I could not leave the one for the other, that would be too boring

Thanks for the additional info - I know where you were now. Not good to hear about the water being lost to grape irrigation. I know there are vineyards downriver of the falls that take their share of the Orange River - I didn't know it had such an effect upstream though. Shame - the falls are spectacular in full flow. :frown:
