Spring Morning

This is a rework of an image I posted on Flora five or six weeks ago. I've reprocessed this several times. I used Photomatix, LR3, CS5, NIK color effects (mostly the neutral density filter) and Viveza 2. Proper HDR should probably have been three exposures but I thought there was enough dynamic range in the raw image to go ahead and tone map it.

Sony A850
Zeiss 135 mm
F/1.8 (I was trying to keep the fog soft and visible in the image.)

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Pat

Really beautiful, Pat. Very painterly.
The comp seems a little awkward to me.. I wouldn't want to lose any of the sky, so maybe it needs a bit more on the bottom..don't know.

Pat,

This has a wonderfully minimalist Orton effect to it. The colors and tones are soft and lovely. Maybe the compositional awkwardness that Sandy feels is related to the lack of a focal point or "main character" in your visual narrative... boy, I just used a bunch of big college kinda' words... sorry  I would love to see more images with this same treatment.

Thanks for the comments you guys. I broke the rule of thirds on this because I wasn't willing to give up the sky. The shot had more grass in it but it was too soft and I didn't like it. I think if the sky drops the tree becomes more pronounced in the image and consequently more of a focal point. I just didn't like it that way. (smile)

I really do appreciate the comments.

Thanks.

Stunning image Pat, I particularly like the sky and can see why you did not want to give it up :toast:

Lovely landscape, Pat. Congrats on the EP. I would not crop the very FG because I think you would lose some of that awesome red.

Way to go.
