Spring Dogwoods

I got up to take sunrise images in the Smokies last April, but the heavy fog never lifted. However, I turned around and was able to capture this image of dogwoods in the misty forest canopy. I like the B&W (Silver Efex Pro) version better. I'm most happy with the textures and verticals of the forest trees contrasted against the white dogwood flowers. Comments and critiques appreciated as always.

Nice separation from the background, Matthew. The comp works well. Maybe brightening the mid-tones on the foreground might add a little extra depth and continuity. You could give it a try.

Looks great Matthew, the dogwood flowers really pop against the darker background. I really like the detail in the larger version.

Very pretty. Wouldn't mind seeing more contrast in the leaves

Fantastic B&W. Great tones, especially the whites of the flowers add so much. And then the fog to top it off. A real winner Matthew.

Interesting to see a scene like this in B&W. I like it. It also has some nice depth.

Great scene Matthew. This really shows some nice mood and inner forest art. I do agree with Andreas on some mid tone work which will really makes this pop.
Great job though and thanks for sharing

Really nice tones, and the whites are glowing in the fog. Beautiful.

Love the way those blossoms stand out against that foggy and muted forest. Well seen, captured and converted!

I agree...very strong image and glad the fog stuck around. I might be tempted to brighten the greens just a bit as they seem a bit too flat/grey to me but love the contrast. Great work
