Just a quick capture before he dove back into the pond. About 70% of original.

canon 7d, tamron 200-400@400mm, raw capture. 1/500 sec, f8, handheld. minimal processing in ACR.

Any C&C is appreciated

Hi Neven,

I like the crop you've chosen here - works well with that dominant horizontal line created by the branch. To my eye the subject is a little too centred - both vertically and horizontally. Depending on the room you have around this, I'd be tempted to keep the same aspect ratio but shift the turtle down a little in the frame and a little to the left. The turtle is on the small side within the frame, but it looks like you ran out of focal length, so not much you could do about that!

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Brad

Hi Neven, Brad has already given you some good feedback on this image, so no need to repeat. Personally I do wish for a closer view of the turtle as now it is a bit lost in its environment. Yet, i understand your constraints here.

Brad and Vincent, Thanks for the great feedback. I really appreciate hearing what to watch for in future pictures or what to try to do to improve myself. Even with the 400mm zoom, these little guys are tough to capture. I guess I could try cropping harder and blowing things up, but I didn't want to lose clarity.
