Fire in the Sky

Hello all I've had a very hectic 2 months that kept me away from my camera and the website. Needless to say I'm very happy to be back. We finally had a chance to get away a couple of weeks ago to a cabin in Northern Alberta and my camera was going fairly steady :) There are few things that can calm my soul like watching a beautiful sunset. My only hope is that this image will somehow do justice to what was an amazing sunset. My goal here was to maximize the crimson red of the upper cloud bank without over exposing the light from the setting sun at the horizon. Thanks again for taking the time to stop by for a look.

As always your thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated.

Ah yes, the classic of classics. The most used landscape photo title of all time. Just wonderful layers and patterns throughout the image. Simple but effective.

Some very intense layers of colours. It IS a fitting title though. Very nicely done.

Mark,

For starters I think your processing and rendition of the light and colors are just about perfect; at least from my monitor's vantage point. The last, intense and rich color being captured in the clouds in the waning minutes of a sunset is perhaps my favorite color and think you've presented it beautifully.

Great sky, color, and reflection of color in the water. I think you have the exposure dead on for this one.

Sunsets like this are rarer than the number of images portraying them would suggest. Whenever I witness one I'm person I'm always amazed and delighted. Thanks for sharing yours.
