The Romanticist
by Morris McClung
When I captured this Columbine, I wanted to try to express how the light and color made me "feel" instead of what the flower looked like. If I understand the definition of the movement known as "Romanticism," that took place in the 1800's and included the HRV artisits and the "transcendalist" poets, it was one of their goals to communicate just that.
Wickipedia carries this in a paragraph found in the section of characterisitics: "An earlier definition comes from Charles Baudelaire: "Romanticism is precisely situated neither in choice of subject nor exact truth, but in the way of feeling."[7]
My processing of this image took me even further down that path.
