Taken a few months ago during the Anza Borrego Desert Bloom - comments and suggestions appreciated!
Canon 100mm macro at f/8 to keep some of the patterning on the background - is it too much?

Thanks!

Rachel: Welcome to the finest Flora gallery on the planet and thanks for a fine first post here. I really like your DOF choice and the details in the bud. The BG works very well for me as is although cropping this to 4:5 from the top makes the image stronger IMO. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more. >=))>

Love how you framed the bud against the OOF pear, and I really enjoy the dot pattern in the background. Nicely done Rachel.

Great comp Rachel. Love your dof and plane of focus decisions. I would crop it tighter as Bill suggested. I like the image very much though as posted. Welcome to the gallery. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Welcome Rachel, and good luck with future posts! Set the bar pretty high up your poles with your first post. Your oof bg is making me hungry! I see lots and lots of fried eggs! So here is a :toast: . Make that :toast: :toast: ! The detail in the subject is beautiful and well captured. My only nit - would love to see the larger file posted!!!

Here's the 4:5 crop, which removes just a sliver off the top - I think you're right, that there was a bit too much space up there.

An intriguing image, Rachel. I think the patterned ground works very well, picking up on the textures in the main plant, which is presented beautifully. Lovely, soft colours too.
