Burrowing Owl

I managed a whole series (in reasonable focus) of this burrowing owl as he/she flew overhead, apparently to distract me from a nearby burrow. This may not be the most detailed of the series, but I really liked the full wing extension. This is cropped to about 40% of frame.

Hi Lon, This is the first in-flight I have seen of one. Beautiful face and great eyes. :toast:

Awesome - I've never seen a flight shot of this species. Especially impressive given just a 200-400 on a FF camera.

Neat! I know how difficult flight shots are of this species (having only one of my own and from way back in my film days).

Lon, this is a very nice shot. I know how hard this is to get as i have been trying to capture my own. Having a burrow full of chcks definetely gets the parents excited.

Very nice flight shot, Lon. They look a lot less comical on the wing that they do standing around. This one looks like he's all business. :toast:

Excellent in flight shot Lon! I spent a few hours out at burrows on Monday morning and managed a few flight shots, but none of them coming right at me. love the angle you have here!
