Swamp Lantern

ISO 800, 70-200L at 180mm, f4, 1/400s, blended texture

I was trying to think of a way to maybe somehow bring some respect to this plant that's got a bad rap because of it's odour. As I understand it, skunk cabbage is an important plant in the bear's diet early in the spring as it aids with the detoxification after hibernation. I wonder if this is true?

Very nice, almost mysterious look about it- quite a respectable transformation. I've heard that about bears too. It's also one of the first greens they can find in the spring.

Doug, the thumb-n does no justice to this. The few views might have as much to do w/the empty spaces in the dark. The execution of light and shading is excellent and your choice of texture works. Really an antique feel to this.

Really nice texture and beautiful palette. The brown vignette background reminds me of a Rembrandt painting. Great processing.

Don't know if it's true or not Doug but I certainly like the image. Beautiful processing.

Beautifully framed flowers and the rustic touch does this wonders. I love to photograph skunk cabbage, and you've really done well with this one.
