Canon 7D With EF 500mm F4 and 1.4 tc
1/640 sec, F 7.1, ISO 400 From Tripod

The background is an algae covered pond which I like the way it turned out. This is my first encounter with this species. I am very happy with both the back ground and perch. Thanks in advance for any comments both good and bad. They are not camera shy!

Mike,

Beautiful shot showing this waxwing tips with great eye contact. I'd tone down those greens as they look very neon (though given the proximity of the pond to the old nuclear plant maybe it shouldn't be a surprise  )

This bird sure stands out from the background, Michael. I like how you have captured the fine detail on the wings and back. Also, the eye complete with catchlight shows up very well against the black coloration of the bird. :toast:
P.S.: The camera shy ones are having a get-together near Toronto.

Michael,

I love the pose of the waxwing, the nice light in the bird's eye and how well it stands out from the dark feathers there. I can not comment on the background because I have difficulty with very bright colors other than to say I would reduce the brightness and/or saturation of it slightly. I like that you were able to bring out details in the soft feathers of this species, that is not always easy to do.

Love that backward looking pose Michael and the detail looks excellent on a species that is notoriously difficult in that arena. Looks like you could tone down the background pretty effectively if you chose to do so but you like it and that's the main thing.

Love this Michael! The colors are just electric here, wouldn't change a thing. :toast:
