Green Heron

This Green Heron dropped in for a quick meal but came up empty. This water is too deep for wading so he tries to catch prey on the wing.
Taken in a South Louisiana swamp, ambient light around noon on an overcast day.
Taken from my truck window on a bean bag.

Nice action shot! Good feather detail and a head position. Love the position of the wing and the splash of water in the air. Nice soft lighting. How many overcast days do you have down there anyway?

Well done. :toast: :toast:

Thanks Joel,
It's not how many cloudy days we have in S Louisiana, it's those cloudy days when I grab the camera. When cloudless days are in the forecast, I mostly stay home.
Thanks for posting,
Ronnie G.

Another fine image in your trademark soft light. Wonderful action - I love the look of the stopped waterdrops.

Nice shot Ron, You captured the wings at just the right moment to keep them in focus with the wide open aperture setting you used. The algae made for a good bg around the head, I like the splashing water, and when I viewed the larger photo the eye caught my eye, it looks great! :toast:

Nice action pose captured. I like the details and the splash. Do wish the bird were angled a bit more towards us but it is still a lovely shot.

ONe of my favorite of your recent postings. Duckweed adds a nice element here and the splash is great.

Neat action shot Ronnie. I really like the wing position and the water splash. Great light. The angle of the heron to the viewer is just fine by me.
