Clear wings

This is another butterfly shot from El Salvador - taken at "The Devil's Door" a pretty cool hike outside of San Salvador that affords views of practically the whole country (it's a small country...). The wings of this butterfly (and other similar species) are partially clear which is pretty cool. I just wish I'd had more time to spend with them.

Nikon D300s 300 f4 + 1.7X TC HH
f/6.7
1/500s
ISO 800

Cropped to 70%, sharpened.

Luke:
Kudos for making this shot HH with this set up. I find it pretty difficult just with the lens on its own without the TC, but then I am not steady with my hands. This BF sure looks cool with the transparent wings.

Fantastic view!

Perhaps I would have crop the frame a bit, putting butterfly more right :wavey:

Beautiful butterfly, and a very nice comp. I love how nicely the detail in the flowers appear as well.
