OWL juvenile
by Craig Strand
This is one of the two Great Horned Owlets spotted over the past month or so, usually with a parent perched nearby. Most of the fuzzy downy feathers are gone as more mature flight feathers are taking shape. This pair hatched at the Ridgefield Nat'l Wildlife Refuge, WA.

Kind of an awkward angle - I wonder if you could have drawn his attention a bit, so he would have looked at you for the shot?
A little tight at the bottom for me, but perhaps ther was something there you wanted to crop out.
I'd love to have this in my files as is!

I agree with Pat on the idea of a square crop, the extra at the top draws away from the owl.
Good stuff!
