Green eyes...

Summer finally broke through in the Netherlands! Yesterday I went out to my favourite park and found this incredible Dragonfly. It was rather cooperative and I could approach easily. The only difficulty was that it always chose a perch above the water, so I couldn't get all the angles I desired.

D300, Sigma180mm, 1/160, F7.1, tripod :wavey:

Ps. Does anybody have a clue about the ID?

Sweet! I like the diagonal composition. Good details and colors. A little more dof to get the lower abdomen in focus would have been nice but that's just a very minor nit.

I believe this is a Green-eyed Hawker (Norfolk Hawker). Aeshna isoceles
More info here

Be careful as dragonfly's can get addicting!

Really nice capture, Ellen. I haven't seen one dragonfly yet this year. You did a great job with this one.

Really nice detail and perspective, Ellen. I think I'd be tempted to clone out the leaves on the right BG.

I wonder if a little light in the upper left would help separate the wings from the body. Looks like a fun image.
