Hybrid Lily

Taken at Longwood Gardens in PA yesterday. The clouds were in and out.....the flash really brings out the lily details and it always helps that they dye the water black!
Canon 1D Mark 3 with the Sigma 180mm macro at f32 for 1/250 sec and ISO 640 with the MT24 twin flashes at +2. I like to use the flash as main light.....to keep the water dark and bring out all the details.

Lots of interest in the lily pad as well as the beautiful waterlily. Excellent comp and execution. Would love to see this printed and it deserved to be printed big! :toast:

Roman..this is wonderful comp especially with the leaf and its underside turning up ..could be my monitor, one tad bit of contrast could have brought out the gold and the white of the center of the flower...?

Excellent image, Roman. We have long thought of getting out to Longwood as well. Now I am giving it more thought!

Great details Romain. The flower is gorgeous. I think that I would like the photo a bit more if that lily pad was not curled the way that it is - but I still like it overall.

Great comp. I think the leaf floating next to the flower really makes this come together in a natural way. Love the spikes of the flower and curves of the leaf. Great techs, also.
