I wanted an original shot from here so I found myself fording the creek and burrowing under the canyon wall to use my telephoto lens. C & C's always appreciated!

Interesting perspective of a highly photographed location, Justin. Looks like you nailed it. Good shot.

I looked at this when you first posted it Justin and thought it was a slammer, but I'd return and look again. Glad I did, just beautiful. The bottom looks like a skating rink, it would make a nice abstract--if you could shoot it or crop it somehow. BTW, can I ask what your exposure time was here?? :toast:

Bill,

With the help of my Vari-ND the exposure time is 30 seconds.

Interesting and somewhat unique a perspective here, Justin. I kinda wish the falls weren't partially blocked, but a the same time I really do like the complimentary direction of the water flow - something you rarely see in a Punch Bowl image. Color seems unusually reddish to me. What time of year?

Thanks Marc. I took this on April 25th of this year. Here's a version with a white balance adjustment to tone down the reds. Thoughts?

Hard to do something new with Punchbowl. This is a unique composition that works well for me,especially having the white falls frame the "foot" of shore.

Justin,

This is a nicely crafted and creative approach to this popular spot. Normally I wouldn't care for such a large cascade to be completely detail-less, but I think it works quite well in the overall presentation and technique you used to capture this. And for that I think this works beautifully.
