Hello,
This image was taken in Cherokee, NC. This flower was found along a river bank. Shot with Nikon D90, 70-200mm VRI at 116mm, F/2.8, ISO400 in the early morning.

Thanks!
Marie

Love the mood of this Marie. Striking composition and light. I like the space on the top and the bottom although it means I get to see less detail in the flower, so it's a tough trade off for me. Beautiful image. Glad to see you posted. Welcome to the gallery. I look forward to seeing many more.

Thank you, Pat and John. I wanted the lush greens to contrast with the black of the background and the white of the flowers, thus the inclusion of them. One thing I don't like about this is the brown leaf on the ground as I think its destracting. Should have moved it before I shot.

A wonderful first post Marie. I like how you have framed the two blooms with the green foliage fg and deep shadowed bg.

You've already mentioned the brown leaf and another thing that caught my eye was the intersecting of the green leaf with the left bloom. It would have been nice to have complete separation of both blooms.

Welcome to the Flora forum ... looking forward to seeing many more beautiful shots from you.

Marie, I like this shot. You've mimiced how we see and isolate a subject and ignore distractions. The black b/g works well...but I especially like the light on the scene...like a snoot (what a snarky name) ...nice luminescent leaves. Ken S

Beautiful image. I love the compostion and detail. Some people would prefer the photo without the brown leaf that you mentioned, but I like it. To me it adds interest and realism to the composition.
