Borrowed Light

West Coast, New Zealand

Photographed the same evening as my last post, the afterglow was even sweeter later on.

Canon 5DMkII, 16-35mm 2.8L, ISO 100, f11, 5 minutes.

The larger version looks a lot better once again.

Nice shot, IMHO the first post is the better image. I like the way the stump stood out if the first, where to me this one seems to blend in. Thanks for posting.

I like it, but for some reason I prefer the first one. I think its the more evenly lit and sharper (?) pebbles in the first and the more centred composition.

Nice! Is this illuminated by the late flat late, or did you do some light painting? Anyway, works great!

Now, this one has a different feel because of the light, I like it better than the last. Crop 3/4 of the sky out and this will make a good pano.

I like the more subtle light in this one Kah with the pink cloud streak and quiet shadows. Both are beautiful but this is my favorite.

Kah Kit,

This is fantastic! I actually prefer this image to the previous post- I'm a sucker for warm light! But both are fantastic. Looks like a very cool place to photograph.

Another unique and interesting landscape and composition! The light is great together with the scene. I tend to prefer your previous post, but this one stands strong all by itself. There does seem to be some lens distortion on the left edge which does catch my eye some.

I like the low angle of light from this one, but I do wish there was a bit more light on the left side of the driftwood. It gets lost against the background. I like to carry a small reflector with me for that very reason.

Didl. No light painting this is all afterglow.
Ben I don't think a reflector would have been much good in almost pitch dark conditions and given the direction of light.

The light is more bumped up for sure here. Always wondered where people found such cool driftwood for their home. This seems like a very cool beach area.
Well done Kah Kit

I really like how the shape of the driftwood mimics the shape of mountain range thus making a strong connection between the elements. The light is, of course, very special.

Kah Kit,

Can't decide which one I like better - this one or the previous. Doesn't matter though, they're both wonderful. Fascinating how this stump of driftwood is catching all that light. You must have had a great time this fine evening.
