500 Lupin (w/ Repost)

I just got done photographing birds at a friends house, I noticed this Lupin while walking back to the truck. I only had my bird lens with me (500mm f/4) but I thought I would set the tripod down and take a few snaps. I think it turned out alright.

Nikon D300 w/500mm f/4
1/100sec. f/4 ISO 800
Tripod, Kirk Enterprises Action Head.

Developed in Lightroom 3, and optimized in CS3
Cloned a distracting piece of grass on the LRHS.
Sharpened for web using Tony Kuyper's Less Halo's Action.

Thanks for Looking. :wavey:

This is exquisite for a "grab" shot Joel! Tack sharp and lovely clean colors and BG. I like the palmate leaf pushing through the blossoms. Only small nit for me is the partial leaf below that one. Was it windy? Was wondering why 800 ISO (bird leftover?)

Thanks for commenting.

Pam, yep this is a "grab shot". I was walking around to the passenger side of my truck when I saw this and thought, hummm... that looks cool.

ISO 800 was definitely left over from shooting the birds, It was about 8:30 in the evening and getting dark, my shutter speed at f/4 was only 1/100 sec. so I needed to be very careful with my technique. Thanks for looking. :wavey:

Superb shot Joel. You should swing that lens towards some flowers more often. Colors, detail, light, and BG all look great. Nice job on the repost. Just an all around exquisite image.

Joel, I looked at this photo many times but did not quite feel like telling about those leaves at the LLC. The photo otherwise is so so sweet and I am glad you reworked it. One of the very best I have seen of the Lupine close-ups :toast: :toast:

Gorgeous !

Joel: I like the original but the repost is indeed a nice improvement. Keep that big lens pointed at the ground some more. >=))>

Nice capture, Joel, especially for a grab shot. I like the repost even better, with the foreground leaves gone. Most excellent! :toast:

Classic. Love the razor-sharpness against the beautiful soft background.
