Atlantic Coast Sunrise

An image I took on the Atlantic Coast on a cold morning in December, Canon 5DII 16-35 II at 16mm, no filters, 1 second, f/16. I have gone back and forth on the crop several times. What you see here is essentially the full frame version. Thanks for having a look.

A little small but for what I can see this looks pretty nice. The only thing that is a bit strong is the shadow side of the foreground boulder. But this might be less of an issue when viewed bigger.

I like the shutter speed you have chosen. You have a nice view of the water running off the rocks without getting too soft. Pretty sky.

I love what's going on in the middle there, with the mini waterfalls pouring over the rocks. Perhaps a composition that emphasized that a little more would have been nice?

I like this with a crop from the bottom above that dark spot in the right boulder. Great water movement capture and sky.

Chris,

Thanks for posting the larger version - it really makes a difference. Drop me a note if you have any questions about posting.

This is an excellent and dynamic seascape. I too really like what is going on in the midground; only wish you could have been able to get right down on top of the water cascading over the rocks. But clearly the terrain forced you to do otherwise. What I'm also really enjoying is the reflected color of the beautiful sky in the surf.

My only suggestion in addition to a very small crop off the bottom to remove the dark strip, would also be a little crop of the sky. It's mostly by own personal bias, but the result of a little less sky (maybe 15% off the top of the sky) would be just a tad more emphasis on the surf and interaction with the rocks. Just a thought.

Lovely seascape.

I wish the wide angle of view hadn't pushed the middle ground so far away. That's where the real wonderful light and water action are catching my attention, and I'd like it to be so much more prominent than the foreground rocks. Also, the very dark clouds and dark parts of the sky are too dark for my taste.
