An attempt to capture a very dynamic, high contrast scene with lots of lines. Landscapes ain't always "static."

Nikon D700, CV 20mm f/3.5 at f/11 for 1/1000 s, f/11, polarizer

I like the concept and feel you've composed the elements well. There are a lot of large areas of gray here which maybe makes the image look a bit flat.

Chris,

I think this coastal scene has great potential. I like the composition and like how the sun and the sea rock balance each other out. I also see the lines that I think you are referring to in the rocky tidal area of the foreground. I do think the problems come with the processing. As Tony eludes to, I think the foreground rock and water could use some contrast adjustments as it seems somewhat muddy. But more than that, I'm just not sure how the sun became almost posterized. Even despite the suns great power and brightness, I would expect some more gentle of a transition from sun-bright, to sky/clouds. Almost looks like a third moon on a distant, unknown planet..

I think you've got a great sky and composition, but some additional processing to make this work a little better.
