This guy was hanging around the outdoor grill area in Pilanesberg NP, South Africa. He was very bold and when not busy preening himself was trying to steal snacks from the tourists. Comments and suggestions are very much appreciated. Thanks for looking.

A fine portrait. The unusual head position, large bill and strong color contrasts are outstanding. The background is perfect as well. :toast:

Excellent comp and nice detail. Good work on the whites and blacks, too. Lovely portrait.

Tech on this are perfect and the DOF really drives the viewers eye to the birds eye. Nice job here.

Neat eyelashes and a good look at that craggy beak Joe. Interesting image.

Great portrait. Nice to capture him while he was doing a bit of a clean-up.

I really like the pose and facial detail. Would have loved a tad more dof to show off those fine feathers.. Is there an effect on this as the bill looks like it to me?

What looks like an effect on the bill were actually parts that were chipped off and the black portion is pretty shiny. Funny thing is that I didn't even notice the eye lashes until I downloaded the photos to my computer and that's the thing I like most about this one. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Thanks again for all the kind comments.
