Louisiana Waterthrush

D300, 500mm f/4, tripod
ISO 800, 1/320 sec at f/6.3
Photo taken March 22, 2010 on a windy and overcast day at Dauphin Island, AL. Cropped to about 50% of full frame. Sharpening and noise reduction with Noise Ninja. More DOF would have been nice, but I was grasping for enough light to stop the motion of the active feeding behavior. Comments and suggestions most welcome.

Haven't had a chance to see this species but you nailed the bird in habitat shot - I just wish to see the whole foot. Congrats

Sweet capture and nice pose. I like the composition. It seems a tiny bit tight in the frame-but if it's close to FF I would be smiling ear to ear!

I love it! I don't recall ever seeing such an intimate view of this warbler anywhere before. I'd be thrilled to have taken this.

Great stuff. The blade of the leaf takes away from it, but just a smidge. I would love to have this in my files. Nice job.

Just the right amount of the surrounding environment and low angle make this especially nice. :toast:

Hi David,
Very nice image with good even illumination. Normally I would say the background is too busy but I like the entire color pallette. It kind of just all flows together. My only nit it the OOF stick-ups at the bottom of the image.
Thanks for posting,
Ronnie G.

Very well done. The bird stands out beautifully from the background. Even the vegetation is interesting.
