While rolling around some backroads, I found a Northern Bobwhite pair. They were very patient with me, and allowed some nice shots. This is the male.

Normal drill in PS. Comments and critiques welcome. Thanks.

Love the bobs and really lucky to get them out n the open like that with out flushing. Love the setting but it may need to be a touch darker.

Nicely done Mike - I've never gotten a clean look at one of these in my parts.

Nice capture in the short grass...whenever I see these guys they head for cover quick. Just a touch bright on the whites, but a nice image. Sharon

I used to see them like this when I lived in NJ, but they have declined a lot since my days there. I didn't know they occurred in WA. A nice clean view.

Hello everyone. According to PS, nothing is blown in this image. It looks fine on my calibrated monitor. Also, I am on temporary duty in Virginia, I will be back to Washington in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the comments.

Michael,

Love the great low angle, water droplets on the grass and the head turn this bird gave you.

Mike:
Striking markings on the Bobwhite, more detailed than I realized. Very nice getting this open look and capture. Good pose and eye contact. I don't see anything blown, but the overall brightness might be reduced just a tad??? :toast:

Nice, Mike. I remember seeing a few of these as a kid. I'd love to get a chance at another. Good job on this one, though it looks like the light was a bit high. :toast:
