Tears of the Phoenix

This area in Glenwood Springs was burned in 2002 in a fire that got very close to the town. Thousands were evacuated. The title is in reference to the Harry Potter novel where the Phoenix's tears healed a wound. As evidenced by the magnificent greens seen here, that bird could very well have passed this way.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Really strong comp and colors here, Morris. There's also an abstract quality that I find quite appealing.

Great layers; the green/orange combo is killer too! I find the branches on extreme lhs a bit distracting, but probably not worth cropping. Cool shot! :wavey:

I really love this and probably one of my favorites from you. The background color combined with the gnarled branches is some great contrast. Very graphic shot and with a great story behind it. Perfect title and that movie is on tv right now
Well done :toast:

Nicely done, Morris. The thumbnail makes this look abstract, but upon further inspection, it's both abstract and has lots of intricate details. The color combination is wonderful, too.

Beautiful color and comp. Morris. I just drove through Glenwood Springs yesterday on I 70. Where is this in relation to the Fwy?

very cool shot, my friend. nice contrast between greens and reds/oranges. I might clone that left branch on the ulc, but that is very minor. love the "wild" feel here and colors. great work/capture!!

Love that 'tangle'. The vibrant greens and orangish color work well together. The branches in the upper left are a little bothersome.

Morris,

As others have already mentioned, the color combo is beautiful. I'm also thankful for the old, burned branches that help separate the greens of the bushes from those greens in the background. Looks like a place a photographer could spend a considerable amount of time...

Really impressive, Morris. I like this a lot! There is a degree of abstraction in the image that creates a very pleasing sort of optical illusion. Finally it resolves and voila! The burnt trees and bushes add a special touch and the colors are just dynamite.
