Ranthambore, India
1D2N, 500mm+1.4x, handheld, f/5.6, 1/100, ISO500, -1/3ev

I made a weekend trip to Ranthambore National Park last month for the tiger. There were a number birds in and around the park getting ready to nest. This one was shot past sunset at a friend's farm. I wish I get one in good light when I visit again next week.

As always, all comments welcome. Thanks for looking.

A wonderful capture of a great looking bird, especially handheld at 1/100th. I like the subdued lighting here very much.

Nice shot, IMHO the overall image lacks contrast, something to make the bird stand out more. Thanks for sharing.

Satie,

Good to see you posting again. You have lovely fine details in the dark feathers, some thing I have come to expect from your images. This is a gorgeous bird and the techs look great. I like the soft light and how well the bird stands out from its surroundings. Sharpness, comp and presentation look very good to me.

Pose, head-turn, clarity, smooth background, low perspective - all good. Striking bird too.

I think the light on this is very nice, and exp on blacks is excellent; wonderful detail and an interesting subject. Sharon
