D300, 500mm f/4, handheld
ISO 500, 1/1250 sec, f/6.3
Feb. 22, 2010 - Rookery, Venice, FL shortly after sunrise. I selectively adjusted the sharpness and brightness of the bird and BG. I wish the head were turned a little more in the direction of the camera, but ....
Comments and suggestions most welcome.

A sweet shot, David. Some may care about the head turn, but I for sure don't! I like the detail, the background and how the subject stands out against it. Well done!

Great lighting to show off all of those feathers and that bright brilliant eye. Wish the bokeh was a touch smoother.

Nice flight shot and good display of the wings. Head position is fine with me.

Beautiful capture, David. The head turn is fine by me. The eye shows so well. I especially like the position of the wings too in this flight shot. :toast:

Certainly and impressive flight shot. Love the position of the wings. I might be mistaken but as I look at the shot I feel the exact focus is on the wing rather than the eye, again possibly just me . Nice work!:wavey:

Nice detail - like the way the three layers of feathers on the wing are highlighted

Really nice feather detail on this. I think the eye is a bit too red, but does help the head turn issue. A nice solid flight shot overall. Sharon
Added...I just checked out some other photos of these birds and I guess the eye could be that red, esp with the nice light you have here. Sharon
