Hydroponic Crop

A very small section of the Little Niagara waterfall I shot the otehr day, before setting up the tripod. The title here actually just refers to the fact that the posted image has been cropped down to eliminate a leaf coming down from the top in the middle of the frame--I debated some time whether to post the original or this.

D-90, 1/80th sec., f-4.8 at 55mm. Again, on the D-90 the numerical ISOs go down to 200 and then there are three levels below it, with which I am not familiar. And it shows up as some strangely high number in PS, when in fact it is probably near 80 or 100. Thanks for looking and any C&C!! Larger posted.

Would prefer the green area to be shaded. maybe also a smaller f/stop to increase the shutter speed.

Polarizer used as well.

This was the larger version I debated on posting.

I actually like the second version better. The water seems to have too much cyan in it - might want to work on your color balance some.

I actually like the shutter speed choice here Bill. I'm not one that likes the cotton candy water. It shows nice motion but still looks like water. I might try to selectively darken the bright spots as well as work on the water color as mentioned above.

Thansk for the feedback guys. It was kind of a tough little spot, bright spots and very dark spots over the water. Maybe the polarizer and darkness are affecting the color?? Up a stop or two on SS?? But I do like some of this water, the top part where it is coming over the rock is nice to me.

I like this, Bill. I really don't mind the brighter BG foliage. It's not blown out and distracting. :toast:

Bill,

I can understand your decision to crop this, but I could go either way with this. The leaf in the original isn't all that distracting - at least it's not bright. In the cropped version the dappled light on the greens is very nice, but it's enticing and does pull me away from the waterfalls. So, not distracting, but a competing element IMHO. The most intriguing part of the frame is the top cascade and the glimmering highlights behind the waterfalls. Just makes me want to zoom in closer, but of course it's not always possible to get to those compositions we sometimes wish for.
In the end, still a very nice image of these cascades.

I think it's nice and the greens work for me- they tend to balance the cold blue of the water.
Nice work
