The head and wings are sharp and the legs give a great sense of motion. The BG is blurred enough to not be distracting. I really like it.

Ronnie, This is superb. I love the stillness in everything except the legs which tell me there's motion going on here. Very sharp Ronnie. I really like this image alot and the background puts him in a perfect setting.

Great action shot, Ronnie. Nice that you also got him in peak breeding color with the blue around the eye showing nicely.

He looks like a long jumper going for a record. The face is very sharp but the blur in the feet convey the motion. :toast: :toast:

This is an amazing shot!! Ditto to all that has been said, except that I wouldn't do a thing. To me it perfection.
Did you use a tripod, and did you prefocus on anything? Dottie

Extraordinary timing, Ronnie. Fine techs, with just enough motion to imply a jump. The bird is nicely lit, especially using matrix metering. Fine work.

WOW.....really nice moment here Ronnie. No nits from me, love the slight blur in the feet looks like he is running in place and framed between the branches just puts it over the top IMO. I do like Rich's offering of maybe taking a little off the bottom.

I have just cancelled my plans to go looking for green herons this weekend.

I have never seen this behaviour, let alone had the opportunity (or ability) to make a shot like this.

Congratulations! :toast: :toast:

Great shot. I like the DOF that gives a peek at the beautiful habitat, the positions of the wings and feet, and the motion blur in the feet. :toast:

It is a neat action photo. I like the way the heron is so well seperated from the BG.
