I will preface my info with this; I am not a botanist, nor do I recall much from biology. I am also somewhat intimidated by the beauty this forum always displays. I am looking to increase my knowledge of plant life(ID's especially) and expand the usage of my macro lens when bugs aren't around.
That being said, here goes: I found this growing on the side of a tree in a shady section of nearby woods/marsh while I was looking for early season dragonflies. I liked how the sunlight was streaked. The first few were dark(low iso and I came in rom bright light), so I opened up the aperture and this was the result. I liked it and hope you all do as well. If not, please tell me why, what not. Also, if an ID is out there, thanks!

Nice apparent sharpness here Bruce. Wish there was a larger file to open and look at. Compositionally, maybe just a little tight on the right side. Since you state no PP, nicely captured given the lighting. :toast:

Neat image Bruce. I like the interplay between the light and dark areas and the slight diagonal tilt. No help on the ID, other than it falls in the general catagory of being a shelf fungus.
