A close-up of the cascade at Little Niagara from the other day. I
like how you can see the falling water behind/underneath the outer falls as well.

D-90, ISO-Lo 0.3, 3 seconds with polarizer, f-25 at 24mm. Thanks for any C&C, larger posted as well.

Wonderful composition Bill. I might consider selectively dodging some of the darker shadowed areas.

Bill,

In my mind at least, this is the finest image you have posted to date. When someone can say something like, "this is unlike any other cascade waterfall image I've seen" (and of course we see a lot here,) then I think I can say that you've crossed a line that takes this image beyond the average and in to the creative with purpose and vision.

You've done several things here: 1. Isolated the key elements in the scene, 2. filled the frame with your subject and 3. captured this with excellent technicals (exposure, color, contrals, etc. etc.) You avoided hot spots in the water....

I understand it's a crop, but even there, you chose wisely in your selection.

I can't speak enough about this. I love it. Congrats

I really like the "stair steps" here with the water flowing gently over them. I agree with Lon that this is one of your strongest images. Well done.

I think you could add some more contrast to the upper portion of the image to bring out the subtle attractive element you like in the photograph (underneath falls). Also, while I imagine the colors in the water are a natural result of some reflection, I would rather have a cleaner white and especially less green in the falls. Some selective desaturation and brightening might be the easiest way to achieve that.

Thanks all, I really appreciate the comments and the advice on PP. As to the greens coming out, I'm not sure if that's the color underneath, but it seems to happen each time I've shot here, no matter what the speed. Though I do notice the LHS away from camera is whiter, the right more green.

And Lon, a special thanks. I had a feeling when I posted this you might offer that reaction--at least I had hoped so! You call a spade a spade and that's appreciated too. I keep trying to take in everything that all of you offer, hopefully it starts to pay off more regularly. :toast:

I kept thinking of those cascading fireworks going off when I looked at this, a bunch of them streaming down at once. Thanks again!

I love this shot here. It's a wonderful comp and you don't have any hot spots in the water.

Thanks Arnab and Bill. Much appreciated.

BTW, the crop here was the rock wall and an overhanging tree limb, about 1/4 off the top and just a tad off the LHS.

Very nice Bill! This ranks right up there with your B&W reflected tree image from about a month or so back, but I think this one is edging that one out as your top shot. I like all the aspects of this image!

This is beautiful Bill. Isolating the falls as you have with the repeated pattern of individual cascades and the wonderful textures in the water really make this outstanding. The large view is superb. Well done.

I can't believe I missed this one the first time around Bill. Really nice shot and nice work with the CP, cutting the glare in most of the image but leaving a beautifull reflection at the second tier revealing those incredible copper tones behind the cascade. Can't see anything I don't like about this one. Awesome! :toast:

Thanks again folks, going to have to look thru my files from that morning and see if anything else is worth sharing. Appreciate the responses to my effort on this one--not an easy walk for me, never mind the techs!! :toast:
