Flora Theme May 23-29 - Wild Things
Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 200, 1/320 @ f8, -.7EC

Thought I would join Philip in jumping the gun a little on the theme week. Of course bluebonnets are my favorite wildflower but prickly poppies are a close second or third (paintbrush is right up there as well). They can be tough to shoot since the mature plants are tall and spindly and any little breeze gets them moving all over the place. Got lucky and caught a break with the wind and managed to come away with a couple of keepers. All comments welcome. >=))>

Bill, interesting capture. I know how it works in the field, trying to deal with a breeze. Two thumbs ip for patience and perserverence. I might crop this in as a 4:5 aspect ratio and crop into the left most blossom, thereby not showing any favoritism to any blosoom, but treating them all alike, and thereby creating more symmetry and a more triangular presentation of the subject's "hearts" Just MHO. Still, a :toast: :toast: capture

Steven: I think you read my mind and I almost did it but didn't want to lose some of the petal texture on the leftmost flower. . . Bill

Wow, nice job Bill. You've really captured the whites and texture of the blooms very well. They really pop. First time I have ever seen prickly poppies. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent job on the whites Bill, along with a beautiful presentation, hoping for some wild things to start blooming here in the Northeast.

Beautiful whites and really fine composition Bill. We'll have these too but I'm guessing it's still a couple of weeks out. About all I'm seeing here so far are a few dandelions. Nice separation from the ground on this as well.

I love the comp Bill, beautiful details, but what sets it apart is your control of the whites and the lighting

Bill:
It is interesting to see the differential effects of lighting and focus on the same flowers all in the same shot. I like the sprinkling of pollen on the left.

Wow! The blossom on left side is smashing. Paper petal texture and detail/lighting really pops in large version..a feast for eyes. The rest is a nice compliment of shapes and colors.

Beautiful capture of this trio, Bill. Lighting, DOF, etc., all perfect IMO. I like the sprinkling of pollen on the left bloom in particular.

Fantastic Grouping, Perfect Expsoure/Light and of course the right choice of DOF. Fine Capture, Bill :toast:

Absolutely perfect capture of all those white tones, and the details are great. The yellow polen on the petals is awonderful touch, too.
Looking forward to lots of WILD stuff this week!

I love how the blooms are all pointing slightly different directions Bill. Nice work on the whites - the details in those petals are great. Well done!
