This isn't the ideal angle, and the birds certainly blend in a bit TOO nicely w/ the water here... first pic of 6 I took, as I'm spotted and the mother hastily gathers her chicks into a tight ball eventually. Then they disappear underneath an old bridge.

D-60, 300mm. Thanks for looking, larger posted too!

I like the behavior, and the ripples in the water. You have already pointed out the nits. :toast:

Bill, for me the angle and the glare on the water really do lessen the impact of this image. Neat to see this mallard was successful with her nesting effort. Many are not.

I loved her proud look as she gathered them in. That's all.

Nothing really "wrong" with the angle here Bill imho. However, for me the top part of the frame isn't helping you out. I would consider making a pano out of this, using just the bottom half of the frame where all the action is concentrated. The reflections in the water are unfortunately, rather complex. A simplified or directional pattern would help (not under your control of course, as they say, "it is what it is"). Group photos are a huge challenge and its hard to have the image match the experience of the event. Everyone loves baby ducks though!!!
