Finally got some filmed scanned from the trip to Yosemite with Lon, Harley and Kyle. This shot is from El Cap Meadow and is inspired by all of Lon's fantastic tree images.

Chamonix 4x5
Fujinon 450mm
Velvia 50

Thanks for looking!

Jason

This is very appealing Jason. The colors work really well and the structure of the comp is perfect. I see some "Lon" in this one...

The "real" story is that I've got this great image set up, camera set up, focus done, just waiting for that special moment.... this guy comes up to me and asks me if he can load his film holder in my camera and take a quit shot.... the nerve, I thought.

Just kidding folks - it's amazing how we all can interpret scenes differently even when standing almost right next to each other. I'll post a completely different one later.

Anyway, this is beautiful Jason. I love the comp of course and I think the colors and sat are excellent. The luminosity though is outstanding.

Great work!

Love the light and detail Jason. From the thumb I though it was Lon until a read the title. Nice tribute and beautiful work.

Looks great, Jason! The blue of the rock wall in the bg creates a nice color balance in the scene.

 From the images you all have posted it looks as though it turned out to be a very productive outing, Jason. This of course is a very fine example of the "tree magic" located in the valley.

When I first saw the thumbnail I immediately thought of lon, then I noticed the title. You've certainly managed to capture his style quite nicely. A beautiful comp and I love the varied colors in this.

This is gorgeous. The variety of colors really set this off, along with the shape of the branches. I like it all.

Love the softness of the light, the superb color, and the lines of those tree trunks. The leaves have created an incredible texture throughout your image, that I find an exquisite added aspect to your outstanding image. Hope you post more as this is truly beautiful work and a fitting tribute.

Wonderful composition. Tremendous amount of detail here, which I'm sure pales in comparison to the print version. This is one for the wall. Excellent work!

Nice job of capturing the intricate details. Colors are great and the composition is very nice. The stream running parallel to the tree trunk in the blc is subtle but adds an interesting element to the scene. :toast:

The obvious elegance of the main subject demands attention right away. Slowly the various background elements seep into view and therein lies the magic of the photo. A fitting tribute.

Jason,

Very nice indeed. I really need to get to Yosemite in the spring. I have not been there in spring in years. Beautiful composition and of course really inspirational.
