Before the Mast
by Jim Sabiston
I had the great pleasure of sailing on the privateer Lynx this weekend. I was also fortunate enough to catch one of the crew while standing watch on the fore deck in moments private reverie. The scene immediately brought to mind the classic "Two Years Before the Mast". I quietly wedged myself down low between the deck and gunwhale and managed a half dozen exposures to capture this special scene, certainly lived over tens of thousands of watches at sea.
