In the Downpour

Sorry for lack of participation, been down in the Florida Keys removing exotic plants and no comp access.

Anyways, this is a break from my trip and an image I ran out to Big Cypress National Preserve for the other day. Wanted to re-shoot this comp in softer light, and I definitely got it. Sat in a thunderstorm for about an hour just watching the scene. In the hardest rains, I got this, which added to the atmosphere.

Wonderful lush scene Paul, very nice comp and great light. Really like that big trunk on the right with the "vine" wrapping around him, really adds to the scene for me.. Nice work.

Your Florida-swamp-stuff is really inspiring. I'm a swamp lover. almost makes me want to go there once... (but I think Lousiana's swamps will be first)

I really like the "S" curve rivulet and the fine lines from the gentle movement of water. Beautiful lush scene Paul and nice streaks of light beams.

I admire how you got a great picture when I'd have run home. The atmosphere is great and the colors aremagically subdued by the rain. I really like it!

Paul, I like the look of this. Obviously the umbrella was used to keep the gear dry as opposed to being a reflector

Fantastic image! The comp and misty atmosphere make this an inviting scene.

Very prehistoric Paul. Great atmosphere and dimension. I guess it's warm in Florida when it rains. No sitting out for an hour in the rain in the NW.

Way to hang in there with the thunderstorm and get this. Love the misty feel and all the vegetation. Great image.

Noting beats the light on a rainy day. Great color too Paul. :toast:

This looks better the longer I look. The orange water is a nice passageway through the scene.

Top composition and wonderful lighting. What's not to like? I love the 'thick' atmosphere.

I think this has all the qualities that make landscape photography an artform. Comp, light, color, and an emotional connection. As good as it gets!

Beautiful image and very well done. I'm with Tony, the longer you look at this the better I like it. Great work, Paul.

This is really sweet. The downpour adds a lot to the overall image and comp, as it seems to provide a different source of light. :toast:

Outstanding Paul. The mood created really comes together with the subject for a great scene.
