A Season of Growth

Sagauro cactus bulbs bursting at the seams. Taken this morning.
Hard to crop this one. Any comments and suggestions always appreciated.

**Thanks to everyone for their comments. I really appreciate the support. This photo was taken just outside of Torvea Castle in Phoenix. According to Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tovrea_Castle the garden there has over 5000 individual cacti and over a 100 species. The castle, which was built in 1926, is owned by the City of Phoenix. Unfortunately, due to recent budget cuts, it is closed to the public. However, I was invited to photograph there this past Friday and came up with this shot among others. There were over 10 volunteers working on the grounds that morning and the cacti are all very well watered. Plus, the castle is on the top of a hill so you can shoot parellel with many of the cacti. About 1/3rd of the cacti were already in bloom, but this was the only one I noticed with bulbs running down the sides of it.

very creative take on this. this really depends on the comp and i find that the bottom right to be a touch - and only a touch - empty. but really super work.

I like the vertical spines and all the bright green bulbs popping out with great color. Nothing to get to close to, but a great image Michael.

I wouldn't crop it at all. Looks perfect in all respects . . . quite a beautiful capture.

Love those greens, especially the buds! The detail in the larger photo is great, and I'll bet the original sings. Well seen.

That's one healthy cactus! Saguaros usually flower on top. Wonderful color and detail!

Very original comp - that's one of the greenest and healthiest saguaros I've ever seen! Hope you remember where this one is so you can see them bloom.
