Painted mountains (+repost )

Reminiscing on my trip to the 'land of painted hills', Ladakh (Himalayas, India) just discovered this image in my files and thought of sharing it here.

This intimate was shot while we were navigating the world's 2nd highest motorable road - the Thaglang la pass ( 5300+ m above sea level ). Low oxygen levels almost pushes one to the limits of mountain sickness and this place is no exception.

Canon 40D, Canon 70-200 F2.8, full frame image.

What's intriguing for me in the image is the marriage of play of lights and shadows with the natural color palette of these mountains.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful color, spotlighting and composition. Although the deep shadows almost divides the photo in two. Have you tried bringing out more detail in the shadows area, maybe with less contrast? Nonetheless, a refreshing view.

Wow, that's high. And what amazing colors are lurking in that earth. I'll echo the idea to open the shadows a tad, it looks like there is some good stuff in there.

I love this, Pramod. Intimate, yes, but a sense of grandeur too.

The play of light and shadows really draws me in. I love how the darkness is diagonal across the image

Thanks for your views guys, here is the one that I have reprocessed and tried reducing the contrast as well as opened up the shadows. Let me know your thoughts.
