Last Light

The last rays of the sun illuminate the grass dunes on the island of texel.

I had several versions of this image, with the foreground ranging from pure black to very well visible, in the end I found the current version the most appropriate but I'm looking for more opinions, especially if the fg should be a tad lighter or not.

All comments and critique's welcome of course!

Thank you for looking!

Tech: Canon 7d & 17-40 @ 17mm, iso 100 1/10th & f/22 for the sun. Post with Tk's actions/layers

very nice, Jorne! great light and colors. love the gold and blue tones here a lot. I feel you could lighten the lower left and right corners in the fg, just a hair. wouldn´t mind seeing a bit more fg in order to give some more room to the sunstar, any version with more fg? once again, nice capture!!

Jorne,

Great use of the sunstar. it allows the extreme highlight to expand across the image and save a blowout. The dark foreground doesn't bother me, in fact I'm fond of them If I'm trying to emhasize the sky.

Very nice sunset image, simple and effective. Like the sun star, too.

While I do like this, it doesn't really hold my interest for very long. I'm not 100% sure whether a brighter/darker FG would change that, but I have an inkling that being able to see more detail in the FG would add some more interest.

Thank you all for the comments, very helpfull. I agree it is not the most spectacular image (sadly not many spectacular to work with around here in Holland), I'll try and lighten the fg some more. Thanks again! :toast:

Very nice Jorne. I agree with the idea of lightening up the FG a tad.
