Ithuriel's Spear

A bold name for a rather diminutive flower. The "effect" in this capture is the result of shooting through a clump of blooms at a large aperture (cramming). I welcome your thoughts and comments.

Canon 5D, Tamron 90mm, f/3.5 for 1/200 second (ISO 200).

The swash of colors and the selective focus do it for me. Nice!

Hey Phil,
This works very well. The BG is super. I have been out all day so the eyes are a bit shot from the sun.....but the center of the bloom appears a bit bright....but wait to see if someone else thinks so.....or I will revisit this one tomorrow. Very nice job and thought process composing this one!

I like it for the exact same reasons other viewers have already mentioned - that purple wash is superb and leads the eye back to the flower. Well done :toast:

You've combined sharpness where it's most important with
an artistic blur, plus colors are excellent. Well done, Phil.

The BG colors and lines compliment the beauty of the flower perfectly, Phil. Your cramming paid off with some wonderful dividends.

Phil:
This cram is very well done. Live the wash of purple, blue and green which is solidified into the focused bloom. :toast:

I am still here and go on admiring the gorgeous background. The melting warm and cold colors create a palette really beautiful, Phil. Splendid.
Take care.
