Commom Yellowthroat

One of my personal favorites the Common Yellowthroats, have returned to the Ridgefield NWR. They can be found in large numbers and many paired off, I even got a couple of shots with a pair in the same frame. Besides the color and markings on these masked marvels I really like the perch shown with it's lichens and moss and the complimentary OOF BG. Shot yesterday in a shaded area under rainy overcast conditions.

Thanks for viewing, larger version available.

Congratulations, Craig. I like the perch, BG, and openness of this image. Still on my list to get. I find them very challenging to photograph :wavey:

Wonderful composition on this, the background really complements the rest of the image, well done.

I also put them on my "favorites" list. I always see them in the tall grasses so for me this makes a very different and interesting perch. Great job.

Great singing pose and the perch is excellent, although a little large for this species of bird IMHO. I would sharpen the bird a little more.

A lovely image! The blue lichen on the lower part of the perch is attractive in its own right, but I would be tempted to crop above it as I feel it competes a little with the main subject. The larger version really shows the bird off best.

Beautiful image, Craig. I too think that I would crop it a bit as the larger perch, as beautifully detailed as it is, competes with the bird.
