Here's...trouble!

I returned home from a few days on the road and as I was checking the backyard feeder I noticed these two characters up in a pine on the edge of the property. I had noticed Mom working the tree holes (there are several) all winter long and she has been a regular at the feeder, but seeing these pups amused me most of the afternoon.

Thanks for taking a look and posting your comments.

Nice shot! I like the expressions. It appears to me on my monitor to be just a bit light overall. Thanks for posting.

Cute shot. Love the scene and the comp but it seems to be a bit soft, though. thanks for sharing this

Chuck, thanks for sharing. It does look a bit soft. Were you using a tripod? If not, at a shutter speed of 1/60, that would be your first issue (even with a tripod thatis slow for movement of the animal). If it were me, I might have opened up to f/4. With that short of an area front to back 9squirrel) at the distance you look to be at (based on the BG assuming no crop), you didn't seem to need f/7.1 and could have probably increased your shutter speed to at least 1/250 or more and had this a lot sharper. Also if used a tripod, it would have helped!

Pretty cool shot Charles, I like the wy these two are peeping out of that tree hole. The cetered comp work quit well because of your inclusion of the entire width of the trunk and space on both sides of it. I am not sure if the calls for softness are jusitfied judging only this small version, it could be merely a lack of sharpnening. That said, Kurt did give you some solid advice on preventing unsharp shots.

Cute! For ten grand or so you could have used your new 600 mm and really framed these guys! The stacked pose is what makes this one work for me.
