Canon 7D, EF500mm, 1/640, f6.3, ISO 800, Handheld, almost 100% crop. Was chasing this guy down from tree to tree in a snow squall today in the Crowsnest Pass. My arms gave out before he did. I have been admiring Dan Harbour's Bluebird pics. I aspire to get as good as shots as his.

I like the straight forward composition including the diagonal perch. Nice catchlight and quite good detail. Some noise reduction or blur on the background could be considered.

Dan, I think the bluebird is beautiful. Worth the chase! A little work on the BG to get rid of some of the odd highlights and the bright diagonal line in the lower left corner might make this even better.

Dan, fine detail in the feathers, great pose, nice catchlight, and good BG.
I agree a bit of noise redution is in order.

Nice even lighting and detail Dan. The bill almost looks crossed.

Thanks for the comments. Quite a bit of noise reduction was already applied to this image. The original was very noisy due to the severe crop. After cropping the image was around 1100 pixels square, only 7% of FF.

Nice details and the large crop helped with the DOF. I like the pose and perch Might run some NR on BG and tone down some of the slight distractions. Well done HH the 500mm and the crop held up nicely.

Nice Shot, Dan. The detail looks pretty good and it's a nice bg. :toast:

Nice color and detail. Agree with the comments about the noise...not sure what you used for NR, but if you already ran it before pposting, might want to consider some different NR SW.
