Evening Egret

I stopped at my parents the other night and had a little time to shoot so I went to the very small local pond in hopes of finding some turtles to no avail. There was however a Great Egret (which I've seen there once before) that some little kids were sort of chasing around which gave me a nice flight shot chance.

Nikon D300s 300 f4 + 1.7X TC HH
f/6.7
1/4000s (overkill)
ISO 800
-1.33 EC

Full Frame, sharpened bird, noise reduction on BG

Nice pose and good job on exposure. Also, you must have a very steady hand to get this comp full frame! Well done!

Luke, Beautiful details and I like the lighting on the bird. I do wish it were angling toward you a bit more. Perfectly composed in camera.

Luke, I can't imagine getting this bird in flight, full frame and so well composed. Big kudos for that! On my monitor there seems to be a bright white edge to parts of the bird, particularly the neck. Not sure of the cause, or maybe it's just my eyes...

great job keeping the bird in the frame here, Luke! and the 1/4000 works for me--very sharp.

What a contrast between the background and bird, great job on handling the whites, way to go.
