Western Grebe

I'm delighted at the return of this species to my area again. They're into their spring antics with lots of pairing off, aggression and ritual feeding of mates. Fun to watch and photograph.

7D, 1/2000, f/6.3, ISO 500, 500 f/4, 1.4 tc, shot from pickup window yesterday morning, cropped to 66% of original image, very slight tweak of the blacks in ACR, sharpened, no other processing, natural light

Comments/critique appreciated

A tight crop suits this image Ron. Well exposed to show the detail in the whites. Graham

Oh, sweet shot Ron. Love the pose and that everything is sharp on the bird. Great exposure and the eye on this species just takes it over the top. The great water BG adds as well. I really like the tight comp to show all the wonderful details. No nits from me. Very well done.

Very nice, great job on getting this shot and handling a difficult contrast of colors. I really like the water spots along the chest, the larger image looks great, way to go.
