Cornucopia
Sony A700
Minolta 24-85 @ 85mm, CPL
ISO 200, 1/125 @ f8

On the full size file I can ID at least 10 different varieties of wildflowers in this little scene. It was a bright sunny day but I thought it worth a shot anyway. All comments welcome.>=))>

I like it Bill. W/O the sun you most likely wouldn't have had all the blooms to work with. Bright, sunny days this time of year are RARELY a problem here.

What a beautiful composition of colors Bill, and by now, you know I love the cactus. Gorgeous.

Another beauty Bill. Terri's from Texas and you've got her fired up with this series. Maybe our favorite so far. Love that cactus anchoring the composition.

Bill you controlled the light very well. I love the comp. What are the larger red and yellow fringed flowers?.

Wade: They are a variety of Gaillardia commonly called Indian Blanket. They generally start to bloom a little later than bluebonnets and paintbrush but they also have a longer growing season and will often stay in bloom well into the hot months of the summer.

They did say it is a great year for wild flowers. This really proves it. Wonderful shot. I like it.

Bill, excellent environmental capture. I'd hate to back into the big subject. Talk about being a p****! Ouch. Not sure I can say that here, but, too late. Seriously, sweet capture and the lighting works! Two thumbs up!!

Nice one Bill. I really like all those splashes of color. The cactus makes a nice anchor for the comp. Also goes to show that good photography can be done on sunny days.

Great comp and a lovely scene. Looks like the cactus has lots of water loving plants to keep it company. Just got back from a trip to Florida and I did not see a proliferation of flowers like this where I was. One of these days I must get to Texas for the wildflowers and the birds :toast:

Maximum goodness! Well worth the shot, Bill; what a fantastic array of wildflowers. Just love the cactus in there. Well, I love everything in the image, but the cactus is amazing.

As a fellow Texan, I really appreciate this colorful scene.
It's a beautiful mix with a well managed exposure.
With all the rain this season, it should be a great year for wildflowers here..
Well done :toast:

I like the predominance of the blanket flowers against the green. And the cactus is great!

Bill, I like very much the theme you have chosen lately: floral panorama. Here I love the contrast of the threatening cactus sorrounded by the gentle little flowers.
Cheers.

Nice subject matter and composition. Could really benefit from some better light though. I'm surprised, however, that with such a spectacular spring season in Texas this year that you've haven't been able to find some better subject matter. You should visit some of the websites with wildflower reports to help direct you to the best areas. It's unfortunate that the spring wildflower season is coming to an end.
