Sony A100
Minolta 200mm Macro
ISO 200, 1/60 @ f22

Another of my all time favorites. As some of you may know my wife Chrissy is a great gardener. We have a marvelous collection of calla lilies right outside our front door that have given me lots of wonderful opportunities. I was shooting this flower and was all set up when the hoverfly made a surprise appearance. All I had to do was trip the shutter. I got this shot and one other with its wings folded and on a bad part of the spadex before it was off to parts unknown. I'd rather be lucky than good  . All comments welcome.>=))>

I'm not one to normally like macros of bugs, but I have to say the colors and details in the wings of this hoverfly are absolutely astonishing. The calla lily would be wonderful by itself, but the hoverfly puts it over the top :toast:

Cool...this fly ....much more elegant than any that I have shot. The position makes it zing. the sharpness of wings is Tiffiny pure. Like jewlery. Again, cooool.

The clarity and detail is outstanding on that fly and the stamen. Perfect dof.

I love this macro, Bill! The contrast between the sharp, clean, hard lines and patterns of the fly and the gentle softness of the flower petals really makes it special. Good eye and a great capture. Well done! :toast:

It's amaxingly sharp on those wings! I also like the graceful lines in this.
