Canon 40D, canon 400mm, f5.6, 1/1500 sec. They are building nests all over Southern Ontario now. Shot in bright sunlight about midday. No crop, a little PS enhancement.

I like the contrast of strong direct light on the top of the wing with the head in shadow, while still retaining good detail on the head. I like the tight crop and elongated horizontal frame you chose for the dynamic wing position. A bit of noise/speckling in the blue sky, so maybe a bit of NR on background.

Nice pose. The light is a bit harsh but there is fantastic detail in those shadows where it counts (head and eye contact)

Roger, this looks nice. I like the dynamics. Bright light makes shooting ospreys a real challenge and you did well here. My personal taste would prefer a front view of this action as it really would have increased the impact. I search long and hard and spend many long hours waiting for the right set up to get the best angles for shots. Maybe when the wind if from a different direction you can get this shot at a head on angle.

Nice job of handling the bright directional light, good detail in the shadowed areas Roger.
